SEE IT, LOVE IT, MAKE IT

There is great personal and social value in doing mindful activities such as sewing and crafts. We think there is far too little of this in our often too hectic, “media based” everyday lives, in schools as well as workplaces. We teach what we love and we want to empower both adults and children to confidently continue their newly learnt skills at home; using them as a tool for creative fun as well as for practical purposes. “Create your own handmade treasures”!

The Founder

Sarah has a bachelor degree in Textile Design and Garment Construction (Haandarbejdets Fremme in Copenhagen). Teacher training is an integral part of this degree. Her area of expertise is garment construction (design, pattern making and sewing), textile printing and embroidery. Through the years she has worked in various fields of the fashion industry and theatre world where she has gained extensive experience. Having a firm technical background has provided her with the ability to relate experimentally and critically to textile materials; to be confident with all the tools and tricks of the trade and facilitate this knowledge for cultural or educational purposes. She has used these skills for all kinds of adventure; e.g. her own label in women’s fashion (Hubsch Copenhagen) and accessories (Minutiae Melbourne), catwalks shows, photo shoots, theatre productions, sewing high end couture and teaching both adults and children. Beside this she enjoys yoga and baking sourdough bread. Being creative and offering this to others in one form or another is her real passion – Welcome to The Createry!

Sarah Andersen is from Denmark, but now lives in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, Australia.
